Reconstruction after Skin Cancer
Extensive formal training
Dr. Dawes is one of two Board Certified plastic surgeons in Canada with a formal American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS)-accredited fellowship. This extensive reconstructive training and experience allows Dr. Dawes to effectively reconstruct even the most complex of wounds—helping to restore healthy appearance and function after the removal of skin cancer.
Skin cancer removal and reconstruction during the same appointment
In most cases, patients are able to have their skin cancer removed and reconstruction performed the same day, without having to return for a second appointment. For those with limited mobility, or who face challenges transporting to and from appointments, having both procedures taken care of with one appointment is especially helpful.

Following your reconstruction
Upon leaving the surgical facility, patients are provided the following:
- Post-operative instructions
- A number to call Dr. Dawes or one of his qualified nursing staff 24/7
- Post-operative medications (if applicable)
- Follow-up instructions
- Information on Sun Protection
Patients will receive a phone call the day after their procedure to ensure that they are doing well, that they understand their post-operative instructions, and that they know when to return.
